Another first week of a transfer has flown by.
Elder Diaz headed out tuesday morning and my new companion arrived in
the Afternoon. His name is Elder Velasquez, he is from Honduras! He is a
convert of 4 years and has a great testimony and a big heart. He is
awesome and I have much to learn from him.
This
week we´ve been working a lot with the ward and the Bishopric. The meta
for this month is to work in unity ward in missionary work. So the past
six days we´ve been meeting with the members, and less actives and its
been awesome. Turns out there´s a whole bunch of less active members
here that we didn´t know about! This week were gonna go find them. I´m
beginning to learn how important it is for us to work together with
members, because they are the ones who remain to sustain and continue to
help the converts in their path of conversion, and to help those who
fall from the path.
This week I´ve been
reading in First Nephi. It is interesting to see the stark comparison of
Nephi with Laman and Lemuel. His older brothers continually murmur and
doubt and so don´t progress. Nephi on the other hand is a powerful
example of faith and humility. With his faith he progresses and is able
to do miracles whilst his brothers remain unchanged. Nefi´s example
shows that we all have the capacity to change and do the miraculous if
we but humble ourselves and trust in the Lord. I am so thankful for the
scriptures and the examples of great faith like Nefi.
