Week 11 - Week 4 in Boca Chica

Dear Familia,

This week has been mucho bueno y mucho loco!

This week we taught I young man named Alex. We met him while looking for his mom, she was unavailable, but we asked if we could come back and he said yes. Friday we taught him the restoration and it was a great lesson. I think I was teaching about either prophets or the book of Mormon, what I clearly remember is I opened my mouth and the words came. The Spirit taught and Alex understood! We challenged him to read the book of Mormon and to Pray about our message and he accepted!
I am thankful for this opportunity to serve as the Lord's mouthpiece for this short time, it´s a really big blessing to serve.

P.S I´m sorry that the email is yet again so short!

Week 10 Quepa (how's it going?) mi familia

Hola mi familia, Que Pasa
I dont have much time today I apologize but heres a little about the week.
Yesterday, was my second Sunday in the Boca Chica ward. Elder Frogely and I have made a goal to get to know the members in the ward and enlist their aid in the mission effort. So, I tried to become acquainted. It mostly involved a few awkward handshakes and my broken Spanish, but it was great. And yesterday 5 of our investigators came to church! It was a bit less than our goal but it was awesome seeing them in sacrament meeting. We introduced them to Japsen, our ward mission leader, and the Bishop came and welcomed them too, it was awesome.

This week also our investigator Daphni can now be baptized, the challenge she was facing has now been solved and she will be getting baptized at the end of this month. Truly when we have faith, the Lord provides a way.

I love you all!

Sincerely,

Elder  Call

Week 9 Hola

Buenas Todos, Ojala ustedes estan bien
Hello, I hope you are all well.

First off, mother that picture of Bobby is awesome, I doubt that I shall return looking half as good, but it was inspiring. Dad it`s so awesome that you are reading to the boys, I know they love it. Concerning Hyrum's testimony, please tell him he is awesome and has whooped me on my 9 year old sermon on Moses.

At the end of this past week we now have 15 baptismal dates. It is truly a priviledge to be in a mission were the Lord works miracles. This Sunday was my first time in my new ward. We have a super young Bishop, I believe he`s 26, and he`s awesome. We have a good sized ward too, around thirty to fifty active members. Church was great, my Spanish is progressing and I understood bits and pieces. Yesterday our whole zone did a group fast for every companionship to have one baptism this month. This is the meta (goal) President Corbitt has set for Las Americas this month, that`s my zone.
This week we invited 12 of our investigators to church, only two came. At first I brushed it off, thinking we`d try harder this week, then I realized I was lacking faith in my investigators. It is only through faith that miracles happen. This week I`m going to pray for greater faith  in those we teach, I know that through the Lord we can do all things, including getting our investigators to church.

I really appreciate Elder Frogely, he is a great teacher and teaches with boldness. Also he cooks really well which is a very large blessing.

The two photos are from last Monday.

This one is the two of us on the beach, we did not stay very long.

This other is us and a member, his name is Weldy. We ordered individually, the menu said four slices, turns out four slices is a whole Pizza. It was delicious, next time we`ll probably share one.

I love you all, Hasta Luego

Week 8- Buenas Todos

Este Semana fue un poco loco, estoy en el campo!

(This week was a little crazy, I am in the field!)

At long last I am here in the field! And it is crazy, so let me tell you all! But first I shall commence with my final weekend in the CCM. Easter was great. The whole week leading up to Easter is called the Semana Santa ( Holy Week ). Apparently things get a little crazy out in the field during this Holy week, but for us greenies all we experienced was abichuelas con dulces, Sweet beans. Apparently it's a favorite out here, it consists mainly of beans with chocolate and crackers. Not my number one where desserts are concerned but the people here love it! The weekend passed quickly, Easter we enjoyed a special live devotional from Provo, Elder Ballard spoke, I don´t  remember what he talked about but it was great!. Monday was one long pep-talk for entering the field and then at last came Tuesday!

Tuesday morning we ate breakfast and then were driven to the East mission office. There we received our orientation for entering the field and met President and Sister Corbitt! They are wonderful!  I was assigned to my trainer, His name is Elder Frogely. He´s awesome, he´s been out ten months, he´s from Utah, and he speaks Spanish beautifully. Were super similar to the point of being a bit weird, but he´s awesome.

The rest of the week has flown by. Elder Frogely is the District leader so we had meetings almost every day of last week, but we have been able to teach. Wednesday we taught a family of five girls and at the end Elder Frogely invited them to be baptized! They all accepted to be baptized on the 23rd of April! President Corbitt has challenged every companionship in the field to have 10 baptismal dates set by April 14th and we already have eight! Elder Frogely teaches with boldness and listens to the Spirit. I have an amazing trainer.

Conference was incredible, President Eyring's opening message blew me away! Almost every message I found something applicable to myself and my missionary service. I especially appreciated Elder Holland's Talk. I hold to the promise that as I simply try to improve line upon line, precept upon precept, that I shall find success.

I love you all and hope that each of you was nourished in listening to the words of the Prophet and his apostles!
